FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), based in Manchester, NH, was founded in 1989 to encourage students' interest and participation in science and technology. FIRST is a non-profit charitable organization that designs accessible, innovative programs that motivate young minds to pursue education and career opportunities in STEM fields, while building self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills. Each program arranges competitions at different levels for elementary to high school students. Every year, the organization assigns a game in which robots must perform certain tasks.
